LUKE STREET – Mary, Mary Quite Extra-Ordinary

cf = compare or bring together

Ice Breaker

Some Churches venerate her, others denegrate her, where do we place the example of Mary

  1. Mary was faith-filled.   Read LK 1:26-28 cf  v38: How are these two linked ?

  1. Mary was flexible:  read Luke 2:6 and 2:10 - Along with an unplanned pregnancy and a trip to Egypt, how responsive to God’s plan would you have been ?

  1. Mary was worshipful   a) read Luke 1:46-47,  Acts 1:14 -  What do these verses reveal about Mary’s heart for God?   And with John 2:1-5 What does this tell us about Mary’s followership with Jesus   b) Do you have a heart for worshipping God, how does this show itself ?

  1. Mary was forgetful     Read Luke 2:44 How many days?  Is it easy to lose the Son of God in our lives ?

  1. Mary was respectful   Read John 19: 23-25.  Who deserted Jesus when he needed them the most, and who stayed?

Why did Jesus’ mother stay.  Isaiah 49:15

Why do we need to stay close to the cross and that empty

     tomb?

  1. 2 Timothy 1:5  Tells us why women ‘do faith’ how important is a

Mum’s faith and trust in God.
